NAIROBI, June 15, 2026 – Jubilee Party has intensified preparations for the 2027 General Election, with its Deputy Party Leader and presidential candidate Dr. Fred Matiang’i announcing a nationwide grassroots reorganization programme and the commencement of internal processes to identify candidates for various elective positions.
Speaking after a consultative meeting with county chairpersons and branch leaders at the party headquarters in Nairobi on Monday, Matiang’i said the party had embarked on a comprehensive institutional process aimed at strengthening its structures and expanding its presence across the country.
“We have been meeting here with our county chairs as the party begins a detailed and institutional preparation for the General Election. We are reviewing our presence across the country, strengthening our offices and working hard to strengthen the party ahead of our National Delegates Conference later in the year,” he said.
The meeting brought together grassroots leaders from all 47 counties to deliberate on the party’s preparedness for the next polls, membership recruitment, organizational reforms and political strategy.Matiang’i said Jubilee was currently engaging branch officials and developing a framework to guide the identification and nomination of candidates seeking to contest various elective positions under the party ticket.
“We are now drawing a schedule on how to engage prospective candidates who want to run on the Jubilee ticket and the documentation we need to put in place as we choose our candidates for civic seats, Parliament, Senate, governor and ultimately the confirmation of the presidential candidate through the National Delegates Conference,” he said.
He commended county leaders for their efforts in strengthening the party’s grassroots network and mobilizing members across the country.
“I sincerely thank our county chairs for the wonderful work they continue to do to strengthen our party, enhance our footprint in the country, increase recruitment of members and prepare for the General Election,” he said.
According to resolutions reached during the meeting, Jubilee will immediately begin restructuring and reactivating party organs from the polling station level to the national level while launching a nationwide membership recruitment and mobilization drive.
The party also resolved to strengthen engagement with young people, women, professionals, farmers, workers and business owners as it seeks to broaden its support base ahead of the 2027 polls.On national issues, Matiang’i reiterated the party’s opposition to aspects of the Finance Bill 2026, saying some of the proposals contained in the legislation were unacceptable and should be reconsidered.
“We have it now on record that some of the proposals there are not tenable. We have asked that the Government engages Members of Parliament on some of the provisions that are clearly unacceptable and, if that fails, the Bill should be rejected in total,” he said.
The former Interior Cabinet Secretary also expressed concern over the management of national identification documents and passports, warning that any compromise in the integrity of the systems could undermine confidence in Kenya’s travel and identification documents.
“Our passport and identification documents must remain credible and respected. Any compromise in the systems responsible for issuing them undermines national security and the confidence other countries place in our documents,” he said.
Matiang’i urged the relevant authorities to address the concerns and safeguard the integrity of national registration and immigration systems.Meanwhile, Jubilee Party reaffirmed its commitment to national unity, inclusivity, constitutionalism, economic empowerment and social justice, saying it would continue engaging Kenyans across the country as it builds its agenda and strengthens its structures ahead of the next General Election.
The party said the ongoing grassroots reorganization programme marks the beginning of a broader effort to reposition Jubilee as a competitive national political movement in the run-up to the 2027 polls.
