NAIROBI, August 13,2026 – The Technopolis Development Authority (TDA) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have signed a Collaboration Agreement to accelerate Kenya’s digital transformation through cloud adoption, innovation, digital skills development and technology investment.
The agreement, signed at Konza Technopolis, brings together the two organisations in a partnership aimed at strengthening digital infrastructure, developing future-ready skills and positioning Konza as a regional hub for cloud computing, innovation and frontier technologies.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, TDA Chief Executive Officer John Paul Okwiri said the partnership would support the Authority’s vision of positioning Konza as a national platform for technology-driven economic development.
“This Collaboration Agreement marks an important milestone in our journey towards steering the country to a knowledge-based economy. Our partnership with AWS brings together global cloud expertise and Kenya’s ambition to build a resilient, skills-driven digital economy,” said Okwiri.
He said the collaboration would create opportunities for innovators, start-ups, businesses and technology professionals to access infrastructure, skills and expertise needed to develop solutions capable of competing in local and international markets.
“Through this collaboration we are creating an environment where innovators, start-ups, businesses and talent can access the infrastructure, skills and opportunities they need to develop solutions that can scale locally and globally. We are confident that our ambition towards a globally competitive hub for innovation is on the right trajectory,” he said.
The agreement focuses on four priority areas, namely business development and market engagement, skills development and workforce enablement, infrastructure and technology alignment, and innovation ecosystem and start-up enablement.
AWS Public Sector Lead, West, East and Central Africa, Robin Njiru, said the partnership would combine AWS cloud capabilities with Konza’s growing innovation ecosystem to strengthen Kenya’s digital infrastructure and support technology-led growth.

This collaboration provides an opportunity to combine AWS’s cloud capabilities with Konza’s growing innovation ecosystem to help strengthen digital infrastructure and develop future-ready skills,” said Njiru.
He said AWS would work with the Authority to translate the agreement into tangible opportunities for Kenyan youth, innovators, startups and technology professionals.
“We look forward to working closely with the Authority to translate this partnership into tangible opportunities for Kenya’s technology ecosystem. We have identified immediate areas of action that will realise benefits for Kenyan youth, innovators and technology professionals alike as we work on the more structured initiatives under this partnership,” he said.
Under the agreement, AWS will support engagement with public sector institutions on cloud-first digital transformation initiatives, while TDA staff and Kenyan youth will benefit from professional certification and training on AWS technologies.
The partnership will also provide access to AWS technical expertise in data management, machine learning and artificial intelligence, alongside technical leadership and oversight in the establishment of an AWS Outpost at Konza to support hybrid cloud solutions.
It will further facilitate the establishment of a Startup and Innovation Centre of Excellence at Konza, with startups and scale-ups expected to benefit from AWS partner and support programmes, including cloud credits and technical mentorship.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen Konza’s role in connecting global technology capabilities with Kenya’s innovation ecosystem while creating new opportunities for local talent, enterprises and technology innovators.
