Court Frees Eric Omondi on Personal Bond After Dramatic Airport Arrest

Nairobi, June 8, 2026 — Comedian Eric Omondi has walked out of the Milimani Law Courts a free man after being released on a Sh100,000 personal bond. Omondi, who was dramatically arrested at JKIA over the weekend, pleaded not guilty to charges of traffic obstruction during recent anti-fuel price protests. Defense lawyers Danstan Omari and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino successfully argued against harsh bail terms, exposing the prosecution’s case as a politically motivated attempt to criminalize Omondi’s “Sisi Kwa Sisi” humanitarian water initiative.
