Ruto Tops Infotrak 2027 Presidential Survey as Broad-Based Government Awareness Hits 79 Per Cent

NAIROBI, July 13, 2026 — President William Ruto remains the front-runner in the 2027 presidential race with 32 per cent support, while public awareness of the Broad-Based Government has risen to 79 per cent, according to the latest Infotrak Voice of the People (VOP) survey. The nationwide poll also found that 18 per cent of voters remain undecided, suggesting the contest is still fluid ahead of the General Election.

The survey, conducted among 3,000 respondents across the country, indicates that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is the second most popular presidential aspirant with 13 per cent support, followed jointly by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i at 12 per cent each.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua scored four per cent, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino three per cent, former Chief Justice David Maraga two per cent, while Martha Karua attracted one per cent support. Another three per cent declined to reveal their preferred candidate.

The findings further show that awareness of the Broad-Based Government arrangement between Kenya Kwanza and ODM has reached 79 per cent nationally, with the highest awareness recorded among young people aged 18 to 26 years at 86 per cent, men at 84 per cent and Nairobi residents at 84 per cent. Sixteen per cent of respondents said they were unaware of the arrangement, while six per cent were unsure.

According to the report, President Ruto’s support gives him a significant lead over his closest challengers, although the large proportion of undecided voters suggests that political alliances, party nominations and future campaigns could still reshape the race before 2027.

The poll also examined public opinion on potential presidential running mates, preferred opposition tickets and the popularity of political parties and alliances, providing an early indication of the political landscape ahead of the next General Election.

It notes that running mate choices and coalition formations are likely to play a critical role in influencing regional support as political parties prepare for nominations.

Infotrak said the findings are based on interviews conducted among a nationally representative sample of 3,000 respondents drawn from all regions of the country, offering insights into voter attitudes on government awareness, presidential popularity, coalition preferences and party support.

The survey comes as political parties continue positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election, with coalition negotiations, party realignments and leadership endorsements expected to intensify in the coming months.

The results provide an early snapshot of the country’s political mood while underscoring that a sizeable share of voters has yet to settle on a preferred presidential candidate.
